On 11-12 June, the 15th International Seminar on Capacity Building in Trade and Transport Facilitation was held in Aktau.
The event was organized in cooperation between the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Ministry of Trade and Investments of Kazakhstan, the International Association "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" (TITR) and other partners, including the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Transport Corridor Europe-the Caucasus - Central Asia (PS IGC TRACECA) and the "UkrVneshtrans" Association.
The target audience of the seminar includes policymakers and experts with technical skills from relevant national agencies dealing with digitalization, trade regulation, transport and transit procedures, as well as representatives of the business community (traders, carriers, freight forwarders, IT developers, etc.). This is a capacity building event aimed at developing skills in target countries to implement innovative approaches to harmonization and digitalization of data and document exchange along the corridor. It includes knowledge and technology transfer for the implementation of electronic information exchange in accordance with UN/CEFACT standards and supporting tools.
At the end of the workshop, the participants made a study visit to the port of Kuryk, where General Director Serik Akhmetov introduced the infrastructure of the ferry complex, its performance indicators, as well as promising areas of development.
